Amy Smith
Head of dance
Amy is a Queen’s University Belfast graduate originally from Derry-Londonderry. She grew up in theatre and dance from the very young age of 3 in the Rainbow School of Dance in Eglinton, studying Ballet, Tap, Modern in Acrobatics. She has achieved an abundance of qualifications as well as teaching qualifications in these respective disciplines and has used this experience throughout her career. Within music, Amy has achieved her diploma in Musical Theatre Singing, up to Grade 6 in piano as well as Grade 8 in cello. In theatre, Amy was a part of many companies in her hometown such as Londonderry Musical Society, Millenium Forum Youth and Lights up Theatre Company. She has performed in these shows since the age of 8 with notable credits including ‘Demeter’ in ‘Cats’, ‘Serena’ in ‘Legally Blonde’, ‘Sister Mary Patrick’ in ‘Sister Act’ and many more. Since moving to Belfast, Amy has been an active member of Queen’s Musical Theatre Society since 2020, taking up many committee, production team and performing roles. Since 2020 and during her presidency in 2023/24, she undertook roles of ‘Nadia’ in ‘Bare: A Pop Opera’, ‘Emma’ in ‘The Prom’ and many more diverse roles both on and off stage. Amy is currently a member of Belfast Operatic Company and has recently taken part in ‘Les Misérables: Let The People Sing’ in the world premiere of the amateur production, in The Grand Opera House. Amy has had the time of her life in the East Broadway family this past year and is looking forward to being officially part of the team for many more productions to come.

ALEX MCKELVEY
CO-OWNER AND MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Alex is a freelance musical director and vocal coach based in Belfast. He studied at Bath Spa University and obtained a Certificate of Higher Education in Musical Theatre in 2018. Alex started his passion for performing at Belvoir Players Theatre Academy, where he has been a member for 15 years, directing their Junior Academy shows and taking part in their yearly pantomime, he has most recently been appointed deputy artistic director for their theatre academy. Alex also musically directs for many theatre companies in Northern Ireland including, NISMAT, Rainbow Factory, New Lodge Arts and Queens Musical Theatre Society. Alex is also a private singing teacher, teaching the London College of Music syllabus for musical theatre, he teaches a large number of pupils throughout Belfast and has a 100% pass rate in pupil examinations. He hopes he can bring his passion for music and drama to East Broadway to create confident and passionate young performers.

KATIE-ROSE SPENCE
CO-OWNER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Katie-Rose is the co-owner and creative director at East Broadway. She had a passion for theatre from a young age. She was trained in classical and theatre style singing by Leila Webster from age 9. She has performed with the Opera House Summer Youth Project and was a member of Belvoir Players for 5 years performing in both their academy musicals and pantomimes. Katie-Rose has since returned to Belvoir Players as an actor reaching the One Act Drama Festivals in 'Little Box of Oblivion' and a sold out run of 'A Murder is Announced' as Phillipa Haymes. She has also stage managed several productions including 'Frosted' Pantomine and the Northern Irish Premier of 'Finding Nemo Jr' for which she also did the costumes. Katie-Rose is working on her Grade 8 Musical Theatre Exam with the London College of Music. Katie-Rose has enjoyed writing, directing and producing shows with East Broadway highlights include the sold out concert 'Broadway Through The Years' in the Grand Opera House and Annie Jr. She hopes that through East Broadway she can bring her passion for mental health awareness and the benefits of theatre to young performers.

Keri mcneice
Development officer
Keri joined the East Broadway team in June this year. She was involved in musical theatre throughout school and was a member of Fusion Theatre in Lisburn performing in their productions of ‘Sunshine on Leith’ and ’The Beautiful Game’. She joined the Belvoir Players in April of last year for their Summer Tour playing ‘Alice’ in ‘Death by Design’. She then took on the role of ‘Sinestra’ in the Players 2024 Pantomime ‘Frosted’. Her most recent role with the Belvoir Players was ‘Julia’ in ‘A murder is Announced’. Keri has loved creating promotional content for East Broadway so far and is delighted to join a successful theatre company.
